Optical Coherence Tomography
OCT is a highly advanced, non-invasive scan that lets us see beneath the surface of the retina in microscopic detail—like an ultrasound for the eye. It allows us to detect early signs of eye conditions long before you notice symptoms, helping to protect your vision for the future.
An OCT scan is quick, painless, and offers an incredibly detailed view of the retina and optic nerve—key areas for diagnosing and monitoring eye health.
What to Expect
Comfortable Setup
You’ll be seated in front of the OCT machine and asked to look at a target light inside the scanner. There's no contact with your eye and no need for dilation drops in most cases.
The Scan
Using light waves (not X-rays), the OCT captures a series of cross-sectional images of the retina—layer by layer. Each eye takes just a few seconds to scan.
In-Depth Analysis
We’ll review the scan with you, explain what we see, and compare it with previous scans if you’ve had them. OCT can reveal subtle changes that traditional exams can’t detect.
Monitoring Over Time
OCT results are stored securely, allowing us to track changes in your eye health over time. This is especially important for managing long-term conditions like glaucoma or macular degeneration.
