Optomap Retinal Imaging

Optomap is a cutting-edge retinal imaging technology that lets us see more of the back of your eye than ever before—without the need for drops in most cases. It helps detect early signs of eye disease long before you notice any symptoms, making it an essential part of modern eye care.

Optomap is fast, comfortable, and non-invasive. It gives us a detailed, ultra-widefield image of your retina—covering over 80% in one scan compared to just 15% with traditional methods.

What to Expect

Simple, Painless Setup

You’ll sit comfortably in front of the Optomap machine. No need for dilation drops in most cases, so there’s no blurring or stinging.

The Scan

You’ll be asked to look into the device, one eye at a time. A quick flash of light captures a high-resolution image of your retina in less than a second. That’s it, no contact with the eye, no discomfort.

Review & Explanation

We’ll show you your retinal image on screen and explain what we’re looking for. It’s a great way to visualise and understand your eye health. If we spot anything unusual, we’ll advise on next steps right away.

Ongoing Monitoring

Optomap images are stored securely, allowing us to compare year-on-year changes. This makes it easier to detect even the slightest differences over time and manage any risks early.
